And as far as I know, Bandicam leaves a watermark in the free version. XSplit is not free and many streamer use it, I don't know if it has a only recording mode. I can't say much about XSplit and Bandicam. I don't recommend using CamStudio (it crashes sometimes, so the video file gets lost) or Ashampoo Snap! (lags much).
